Diarrhea
Diarrhea is a frequent loose or liquid bowel movements.
Chiefly, diarrhea is due to viral, or bacterial infections; parasites; or food allergy. But it can also be a symptom of another dysease, such as cholera, dysentery, botulism, Crohn's, and mushroom poisoning syndrome.
| Acute |
- caused by infective agents, medications, diverticulitis, metal poisoning, allergies, food intollerance
- it might be accompained by vomit, nausea, and/or fever

| Cronic |
- caused by IBS, coeliac disorder, inflammatory bowel diseases (e.g. Crohn), pancreatic insufficiency, laxatives abuse, Whipple's disease, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, etc

| Secretory |
- increasing in active secretion
|
| Osmotic |
- occurs when to much water is drawn in the bowels
- it may be caused by maldigestion, laxatives, excessive intake of magnesium, vitamin C, lactose, fructose, and sugar alcohols
|
| Motility-related |
- it's due to the rapid movement of food through the bowels
- the hypermotility can occur because of IBS, diabetic neuropathy, a complication of menstruation, or hyperthyroidism

| Inflammatory |
- it occurs when there is damange to the mucosal lining
- it can be caused by viral, bacterial, or parasitic infections; autoimmune problems; tubercolosis; colon cancer; and enteritis
