Colitis

Colitis is a chronic digestive disease that belongs to a group of autoimmune and inflammatory condtions of the gastrointestinal system.
Colitis is a kind of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It doesn't belong  to IBS (Irritable bowel Sydrome). Although, IBS has been named spastic colitis, colitis is not a feature of irritable bowel syndrome.

The main causes of colitis include:

• food poisoning
• bacterial, viral, or parasitic infection
• chimical agents
• antibiotics
• allergic reaction
• other conditions (e.g. Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
• impaired circulation

The main symptoms include:

• abdominal pain/tenderness
• weight loss
• change in bowel habits
• fever
• swelling/redness of the coon tissue
• ulcers
• mucous/blood in stool
• rectal bleeding
