Rosemary

(Rosmariuns officinalis)

Rosemary  is a perennial herb belonging to Lamiaceae family.  It is native to the Mediterranean region and features evergreen needle-like leaves.

The name rosemary derives from the Latin name “rosmarinus”, which means "dew of the sea".

Rosemary is rich in anti-oxydant active components, besides it's high in iron, calcium, and Vitamin B6. 

Rosemary is widely used either for culinary, ornamental, cosmetic, and medical purposes.

The leaves, fresh or dried, are commonly used in Mediterranean cuisine as an aromatic herb.

The whole plant is also used as insect repellant, and its dried branches can be burnt to deodorize rooms.

Rosemary leaves' essential oil is often used in perfumery for the making up of Cologne.

Moreover, rosemary is widely used as natural remedy for several health issues.

Herbalists use rosemary for many purposes, such as cardiovascular system tonic, nervous system tonic, depression, muscle pain, digestive tract rexant, bacterial and fungal skin infections, and as a gargle for bad breath.

It's also considered to be helpful aganinst baldness, besides to prevent food poisoning, and to improve memory.

Contraindications:
  • Avoid the use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
