Estriol

The body naturally makes three estrogen hormones: estradiol, estrone, and estriol.

Estriol is produced in high levels during pregnancy by the placenta. When a woman is not pregnant, estriol is naturally produced in small amounts in the body.

Estriol is the ''weakest'' of the estrogens, but studies show that estriol's weakness may also be its strength.
Since its estrogenic activity is weaker than estrone and estradiol, it has little or no side effects when used in low doses.

Several clinical trials have reported that estriol could help coping with menopausal symptoms and aging process without the dangerous side effects that studies have linked to synthetic estrone and estradiol.

Clinical trials and studies performed through the years have documented that estriol might be helpful in:

  • relieving menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, and insomnia
  • preventing bone loss
  • reducing vaginal dryness and promoting urinary tract health in menopausal and postmenopausal women
  • reducing markers of cardiovascular risk
  • improving skin appearance and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
