7-Keto DHEA
7-Keto DHEA (3-acetyl-7-oxo-dehydroepiandrosterone) is a natural metabloite of DHEA. It's almost equal to DHEA in its structure; yet, it does not convert in sexual hormones like DHEA does.
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) hormones are the most abundant steroids in the human body. Low levels of DHEA are associated with aging and disease states.
Specifically, a deficiency of DHEA has been found to correlate with immune dysfunction, inflammation, greater risk of certain cancers, heart disease in men, and osteoporosis. The special interest in DHEA replacement, however, stems from its function as a prohormone, meaning a precursor to a great variety of beneficial steroids, both in the estrogenic and androgenic family, on an “as-needed” basis.
DHEA has been found to:
- have antioxidant and anti-aging properties
- protect the cardiovascular system
- protect the brain
- have anti-inflammatory properties
- helps fighting bacteria and viruses, HIV included.
Several studies have documented that 7-Keto is more powerful than DHEA without any side effect.
7-keto is a natural occurring metabolite produced chiefly in the adrenal glands and skin, and in a smaller amount in the brain. As DHEA ones, the levels of 7-Keto tend to decrease with age up to 50% at the age of 50.
The reductions of 7-keto levels have been accounted for the increasing of body fat with age, besides the impairment of the immune function.
Studies have demonstrated that 7-keto doesn't accumulate in the body over time or cause DNA mutations. Plus, it doesn't convert to estrogen or testosterone.
Thus far, 7-keto has been reported to:
- decrease wrinkles appareance and body mass loss
- improve and balance the immune system
- help maintain an healthy cardiovascular system by its positive effects on blood sugar levels and cholesterol
- increase thermogenesis, so that it helps maintain healthy body weight
- enhance memory retention
- boost energy and relieve fatigu.
